For several years in row the company has been among the most rapidly developing Russian enterprises. For 3 years (2002, 2003, 2004) the plant was recognized as the best Altai enterprise in machine building sphere.
Since 2003 Altaivagon, JSC has gained status of main industrial complex, including:
- Head office in Novoaltaisk (Altai Region) is involved in design and manufacture of new models, as well as overall repairs and roundhouse servicing of freight wagons.
- Rubtsovsk Branch (Altai Region) manufactures steel casting.
- Kemerovo Branch (Kemerovo Region) assembles various models of railroad flat wagons.
- Moscow Representative Office studies sales market and searches for clients.
Since 2005 Altaivagon, JSC has had quality management certificate ISO:9001, issued by internationally known company - RWTUV Systems GmbH (Germany).
Nature of Business
Main products of Altaivagon, JSC include around 20 models of up-to-date wagons of various types designed to carry any freights. Wide range of products, constant improvement of production process and design of new wagon models always meet clients' requirements.
Altaivagon, JSC in engaged in:
- design and production of up-to-date models of freight railroad wagons, meeting clients' requirements;
- roundhouse servicing and overall repairs of rolling stock;
- production of steel casting;
- furniture manufacture.
Production Facilities
Altaivagon, JSC production facilities make it possible to produce up to 7500 freight wagons, repair and improve up to 1200 ones a year. Main production shops give enough space and equipment to produce three wagon models and repair six types of freight wagons simultaneously. Repairs may be of various difficulty: roundhouse servicing, overall repairs, overall repairs with extended servicing life. Nowadays Rubtsovsk Branch manufactures over 2000 ton steel casting a month, range of products includes over 50 items of casting.

From 1999 to 2005 chief designer's office was involved in designing various types of rolling stock per clients' orders. Those types included flat wagons, tanks, gondola wagons and covered wagons.
Machinery, Equipment, Innovations
Equipment
Altaivagon, JSC considers one of its main activities to be technical re-equipment of production facilities. The company succeeded in introducing high-capacity hydro-copying machines, automatic sizing machines to polish axle neck and before-wheel seat, as well as Italian bandsawing machines and plasma arc cutting equipment. To keep improving production facilities it is proposed to attract investments. In 2005 Kemerovo Branch brought into operation a new Italian painting & drying line. The equipment extends life of paint coating, makes it possible to paint wagons of any type and dimensions, including flat wagons, gondola wagons and tank wagons.
Innovations
Nowadays Altaivagon, JSC designs wagons of new generation meeting all clients' needs and desires, in particular to be even safer and demonstrate superb operating features. Due to improved wagon capacity and reliability new models help reduce transportation costs. Altaivagon, JSC introduces "Galaxy" automatic control system. It covers all control levels, arranges information flows and provides managers with operative access to data.
Future Development
At the present moment Altaivagon, JSC specialists are involved in the following projects:
- Arrangement of high-capacity wagon assembly process.
- Production of a goods trolley of new generation, train-stop system and draw-buffing gear.
- Complete fitting-out automation.
- Arrangement of a research-and-development shop and trial center.
- Arrangement of producing heavy castings at the site of Rubtsovsk Branch.
Implementation of those projects will result in risen production volume and improved operation features of wagons.
